2021 Ontario Scenario & Family Picnic
Porter On The Lake Town Park
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
The 2021 BTC "Ontario Scenario" will be held on Saturday, June 19th, 2021. Start time 10am, transition/prep starting at 9am. This triathlon (and duathlon) training session will be held at the Lake Ontario swim site at Deitz Road in Youngstown, NY. After the event (11:30am) we will have a get together at the pavilion that is adjacent to the event site. The club will provide some post-race snacks, water and Gatorade.   The primary purpose of this event is to give our newer members an opportunity to experience a "race like" triathlon environment complete with aspects such as body markings and transition area set-up. This is not intended to be a highly competitive race, but it is suitable for beginners and veterans alike. It's a great opportunity for our veterans to provide advice and mentoring to our less experienced members. The run course this year will be in the park on grass (no pavement). http://www.buffalotriathlonclub.com/events/OntarioScenario Please RSVP by Thursday 6/17 as a racer (triathlon or duathlon) or if you're just planning to come to the picnic. We also need some voulenteers for this event.

Northtown Brick Workout
Pendleton Town Hall
6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
We are going to attempt a brick workout tomorrow night at our new brick site which is in the parking lot behind Pendleton Town Hall on Campbell Blvd in Pendleton. Tomorrow night will be an introductory brick with no timing. We will meet behind the town hall and head out for a 1 mile run, you will then head back to transition to head out on the new bike course. The bike course is about 7 miles around the loop. You can do 1 loop or stay out for a 2nd loop. When you're finished with the bike course head back into transition and then head back out for a refreshing 1 mile run to finish it off. I promise sunny skies and 90+ degrees tomorrow so make sure you bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated!!! The course maps are available at www.buffalotriathlonclub.com under the brick workouts section. I will also print some copies to have at the brick site.   Please be patient with us while we figure out how this is all going to work. We have published some guidelines that you will be required to follow if you plan to workout with us. Please follow these guidelines to help protect the health and safety of BTC members and the general public that we may come into contact with during our events. 1) If you feel sick in any way, please be extra cautious and stay home 2) Activities are only held in when WNY is designated phase 4 or higher by the state 3) Brick/TT events take place in public spaces, BTC members will respect the rights and safety of the general public, yielding to non-members when social distancing conflicts arise. 4) Attendance is for paid members only. Differing from past years, these are not social hangout events. They are limited to athletes only. 5) Group size is initially limited to 25 people. We may increase group size allowances as we determine whether or not it can happen safely. 6) Maintain social distance of 6 feet from other people at all times. IF you cannot maintain 6 feet distance then a mask will be required while in the transition area. 7) Members living under the same roof can share a transition space while maintaining 6 feet distance from neighboring athletes. 8) Hand sanitizer will be available at any touch points like the sign in sheet. Please feel free to reach out to the board at boardmembers@buffalotriathlonclub.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding tomorrow night's workout. Best regards, Brickmaster... Mark Sommers

Wednesday Lake Erie Swim 7/8/20
Wilkeson Pointe
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
***Please read the attached COVID-19 Guidelines***  Please be EXTRA patient as we navigate through getting things up and rolling smoothly and safely! Volunteers will be present to assist with maintaining 6ft social distancing and masks are required prior to entering water.   Join us at Wilkeson Pointe  225 Furhmann Blvd 5pm-7pm This will be a first come swim, please bare with us and we will do our best to get members in to swim!   ***PLEASE READ THE RULES PRIOR TO COMING***  Special Rules for BTC Swim Events in 2020 The primary goal of these rules is to protect the health and safety of BTC members and the general public we come in contact with during our events.  Further, maintaining our privilege and permit to swim at Wilkeson Pointe in Lake Erie depends on following these rules.   If you feel sick in any way, please be extra cautious and stay home. Activities are only held when WNY is designated Phase 4 or higher by the NY Governor. Swim events take place in public spaces. BTC members will respect the rights and safety of the general public, yielding to non-members whenever a social distance conflict arises (e.x. trying to enter the Lake Erie access ramp). Attendance is for paid member swimmers only.  Differing from past years, these are not social hangout events, they are athletic workout events only. Group size is limited to 25 at one time.  Future group sizes may increase at Board discretion. Participation is on a first come first served basis. BTC Board Members and designated volunteer coordinators have final say on head count and admittance of participants as they arrive. Maintain social distance of at least 6 feet from other people at all times. Cones/markers will be arranged in the transition areas indicating proper spots to set up a towel to change your gear. Members living under the same roof may share a transition spot, careful to ensure they do not spill over into the 6 foot distance of neighboring athletes. All participants will wear a face covering/mask at all times other than when in the water. Hand sanitizer will be available at any touch points (e.x. The sign in sheet area) Specific to Lake Erie / Wilkeson Pointe Ramp Access Only one direction of travel at a time will be allowed on the ramp, maintaining 6 foot distance.  Volunteers will be at the top and bottom to coordinate. General public gets priority access to the ramp over BTC members. No Dock Loitering - BTC members will clear the dock promptly when entering/exiting the water. Sign-in will take place in the BTC tent set up a short distance away from the ramp, differing from previous years clipboard location. The parking situation is challenging at Wilkeson Pointe.  Members must make every effort to maintain social distance. Specific to Lake Ontario / Porter on the Lake The beach area is very limited at Porter, space for only 3 or 4 people while maintaining social distance. Members must transition/change up in the parking area where there is more space to spread out. General public gets priority access to the beach over BTC members.
